Cannes Film Festival

Festival de Cine de Cannes

Festival de Cine de Cannes

Cannes Film Festival (Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, Boulevard de la Croisette, 06400 Cannes) – held every May (usually just before the Monaco Grand Prix), this is one of the most prestigious cinematic events in the world – attracting “A-list” Hollywood, French and international actors, actresses, and film makers. Celebrities from Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, to Sharon Stone, Leonardo Di Caprio, Mathieu Amalric, and Fanny Ardant are among the actors often seen there. The expansive red carpet in front of the Festival’s venue is often an opportunity for paparazzi to take photos of glamorous actresses attending this event. The “Palme d’Or” award is given to the best film, along with other awards given for various categories.

Even though this is an “invitation-only” event, the Cannes Film Festival sparks much Hollywood “buzz” not only within Cannes itself, but throughout the entire South of France (since many parties are held during that time of year – in effect, turning this region into “Hollywood East”).
