Monaco Grand Prix
Monaco Grand Prix (Monaco – South of France) – every late May, the Principality of Monaco (located on the southeast corner of France), near the Italian border, plays host to one of the most anticipating auto racing events in the international Formula 1 circuit. Major Formula 1 drivers from Nico Rosberg to Lewis Hamilton compete for this race – attended by both ordinary tourists, as well as many of the same celebrities that attend the nearby Cannes Film Festival (usually held just before the Grand Prix).
Along with the auto race itself, a number of VIP parties are held within Monaco, as well as at nearby French Riviera towns (and even off-shore, on various mega-yachts). One of them is “Amber Lounge” (technically held within Le Méridien Beach Plaza Hotel) – consisting of a VIP fashion show and charity auction, as well as parties held throughout Grand Prix weekend. The Grand Prix auto racers themselves, along with Monaco’s Prince Albert, regularly take part in this event. Along with “Amber Lounge”, there is also “Billionaire Club” – also located in Monaco (launched by Italian businessman Flavio Briatore). Unlike Amber Lounge (which is an event held strictly during the Grand Prix period), Billionaire Club is open all year round – helping to reinforce the area’s reputation as a playground for the rich & famous.
